Control cables OMC 479 · Dometic / Teleflex

Mechanical throttle or shift cable OMC 479 · Dometic / Teleflex · Johnson/Evinrude/OMC.

OMC range with type 479 connections for Johnson and Evinrude engines manufactured from 1979 with compatible controls. Check the specific OMC attachments at both ends.

Choose the length in feet and metres. The same products are linked by engine brand, cable manufacturer and model.

The stated length is the complete cable measured end to end, not just the conduit or control stroke. 1 foot = 0.3048 m. Separate conduit length is not published. For replacement, read the length printed on the old cable and compare both ends.

For a new Dometic installation, measure the actual route from the control to the engine connection; for outboards add 4 ft (1.22 m) for engine movement, then round up to the next commercial foot length. Do not add this allowance again to an existing cable length. Avoid tight bends and follow the control manual.

Check engine model and year, control generation, mounting points, stroke and end fittings. Engine brand alone does not guarantee compatibility. This is a throttle/shift cable, not a steering cable.

Sold individually: 1 cable. Throttle and shift normally require two cables, which may need different lengths.
